The United States Air Force Academy is a four-year, coeducational, public liberal arts college located in USAFA, Colorado. It was established in 1954 and currently has 4,413 undergraduate students. The academy has the only accredited, undergraduate, satellite program that currently has two satellites in orbit: the student-built FalconSAT-3 and FalconSAT-5. The United States Air Force Academy competes in Division I athletics, and the school mascot is the Falcon. The current superintendent of the college is Lieutenant General Michael C. Gould. Cadets graduate with a commission as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

Forbes America's Top CollegesPrinceton University (#1) tops the list again, for the first time since 2008. Williams College (#2) slips into second place, after two consecutive years as top dog. Ivy League schools dominate the top ten, claiming three spots in addition to Princeton: Yale (#5),Harvard (#6) and Columbia (#8); Cornell (#51) was the only Ivy not to crack the elite top 50.

Rounding out the top ten are the University of Chicago (#4), a place where undergraduates say “fun comes to die,”  West Point (#7), whose cadets pay no tuition, although they must serve on active duty in the U.S. Army post-graduation, Pomona College(#9), one of the seven Claremont Colleges in Southern California and Swarthmore (#10). Excluding service academies, there are five public schools in the top 50, with the University of Virginia(#36) being the highest ranked.

Why You Need Social Media In Your Marketing Plan

 As a veteran marketer for on and offline business ventures, I’ve seen and used many types of different marketing methods  - some good, and some not quite so good.

I always checked the statistics to assess which advertising campaigns were working and which ones were not and of course with an emphasis of which generated the best return on investment (ROI). Typically, content marketing (article and press release marketing) and solo ads and cost-per-action advertising worked best for me, but at the turn of the year, I saw a decline in consistent return.

I actually started taking down sites that were a wasting time because they were simply not turning a profit.

I really put some serious thought into this. I took a little break, researched to learn more about the current trends online to see if I could discover why I wasn’t making as many sales as I anticipated and if I could get back in the groove. What was fun (internet marketing) was turning into a chore and wasn’t giving me the return I wanted to see from my efforts.  

What I learned is that I was not keeping up with the rise of social media and in denial of how that was making a considerable impact, not only in the online marketing world, but also the offline marketing world, in relationships and just life in general. Because I hadn’t taken advantage of marketing my business through it, I fell behind and became insanely frustrated. Other marketers were getting the lion’s share of the revenue but not me – I loathed social media for a long time because I viewed it as “drama” how I saw it hurt many relationships but now I see how more relationships are built in amazing ways more so than the ones I witnessed it hurting.  Social media is life on display so if its in life..it’s in social media. People are now so engaged in every way and  in every aspect of their lives.

Obviously, I realized I needed to include social media marketing in my marketing plan to complement the tried and true traditional methods of marketing. It took me some time to blend who I am and what I do into social media, but I did and I am very grateful for making the leap!

I Am I Glad I Made the Leap!

A question I received today asks:

“How do I send an email to one circle?”

This short answer is “You don’t, but you can, sort of!”

Email A Circle At Once Using Google+

Let me explain…

Because Google+ users have not released their email address to you, emailing them does not work the way you might anticipate with the Gmail integration. The Gmail - Google+ integration is really only for inbound/reading/filtering.

However, there is STILL a way to get into the inbox of your circle members, using a tool built right into Google+.

One caveat, in an effort to control spamming, Google+ does not allow email notifications to be sent to any circle over 100 members (so keep you circles less than 100 (add a new circle when it gets to 99 so you can get info to all them). 

1. Write the message you want to write as a G+ status.

2. Then rather than including the Public circle, include only the circle that you want to be talking too.

3. Once the circle is added to the message, putting your mouse over the circle’s name will give you a checkbox that says “Notify”

4. Post your message as usual.

Your message will be delivered as an email notification to your recipients and they will be able to visit Google+ and read it there.

It’s worth noting that everyone it was sent too will be able to see each other as recipients and that unless you disable comments/shares they will be able to engage with each other and share the post with their friends/fans.

This is a great way to quickly get an IMPORTANT piece of information (and share your blog updates)  into the email inbox of your intimate circles on Google+.
